Bring On The Turkeys!

Being a traditional American holiday that is also celebrated by Canadians be it a month earlier, you might find it hard getting into the Thanks Giving mood living in Japan. Don’t blame yourselves as it is a combination of lack of options when it comes to purchasing turkeys and more importantly where do I cook it? The average microwave oven in Japan hardly holds a roast chicken let alone a 4kg turkey.

Though with those complaints aside I see the holiday as a great addition to the Japanese calendar, for one thing it revolves around food. Which is why I choose it as my personal favorite holiday, secondly the theme is of giving thanks. As a busy community getting ready for the larger holidays in December it’s always a good idea to slow down a bit and remember what matters most which is family. And what better way to do that than by sitting down and enjoying a freshly prepared meal as a family?
